Mexican Riviera on the Valor
Five nights, Long Beach to Cabo, on Carnival Valor in February 2019 — also known as the year we did this run twice. (We'd come back the following December on the Miracle.) The Valor is one of Carnival's mid-size Conquest-class ships — a bit older, smaller crowds, a real "throwback Carnival" feel. If you've sailed the brand-new Vista-class ships and felt overwhelmed, the Conquest-class is the antidote.
The trip at a glance
- Ship
- Carnival Valor (Conquest-class — about 3,000 passengers, comfortable, no nonsense)
- Length
- 5 nights · Long Beach → Cabo San Lucas → Long Beach
- Note
- This is the same Carnival Valor we'd sailed through the Southern Caribbean six years earlier — different ocean, same ship, very different vibe.
- Spend
- From around $700/person all-in for an inside cabin
This was the year we figured out the Mexican Riviera was going to be a regular trip for us — the easy itinerary, the warm water in February, the cheap fares for what is genuinely a complete cruise. We've done four versions of this run now, on four different ships. They've all been worth doing.
