In 2026, you can plan and book any vacation yourself, on a phone, in your pajamas, at 11pm. So why work with a travel agent? Here are the ten reasons our clients tell us, in their own words.
We don't read about destinations on travel blogs; we go to them. Every recommendation we make comes from somewhere we've actually been, slept, eaten, snorkeled, or taken a wrong turn in. When we tell you which side of the ship to book, which excursion to skip, or which little restaurant to walk to after dinner, it's because we've lived the consequences of those choices ourselves. That kind of lived-in knowledge is almost impossible to find online — and it's the single biggest difference between a trip that's fine and a trip you tell stories about for the next decade.
The average trip planner spends 10–20 hours researching, comparing, and booking a single vacation. That time is gone — you'll never get it back. We do all of that work for you, and because we plan trips for a living, we do it in a fraction of the time. Tell us what you want, and a few days later you'll have a real itinerary with real options and real prices. No tabs. No spreadsheets. No 2am decision fatigue.
Cruise lines, hotels, and tour operators have a whole category of perks they only offer through travel advisors: specialty dining credits, free room upgrades, prepaid gratuities, onboard spending credits, complimentary excursions, faster boarding, sometimes free nights. These perks aren't visible when you book directly. We pass them all to you at no extra cost — often making the same trip cheaper than booking it yourself.
This is the part that surprises people. We don't charge planning fees for most trips, and we don't mark up the prices. The cruise lines and hotels pay us a commission directly — it's already baked into what you'd pay anyway. The only difference is that you also get our advice, the perks above, and a real person to call when things go sideways. Same price, more support, more perks. There's no catch.
Missed connection in Heathrow at 11pm? Excursion canceled the morning of? Hotel says they have no record of your reservation? Call us. Text us. We're a real human on your team, in your time zone (and often a different one), with all your booking details on hand and direct lines to the suppliers. The 1-800 number on a booking confirmation does not love you. We do.
Booking sites push you toward whatever is cheapest or most-discounted, not what's actually right for you. We start from what you want — the trip, the pace, the budget, the people you're traveling with — and work backward. The result is a trip designed for your vacation, not the cruise line's marketing calendar.
Travel insurance. Passport timing. Visa requirements. Embarkation paperwork. Pre-cruise hotel transfers. Day-of-airline check-in. Drink package math. Specialty dining reservations. Dietary needs. Mobility accommodations. We handle all of it, or at least walk you through it. Every one of these can ruin a trip if you get it wrong, and most travelers don't even know to ask about half of them.
Traveling with family, friends, or a milestone group? Booking ten people on a single trip is logistically miserable as a DIY project. We handle the rooming, the dining tables, the excursion coordination, the price-match-when-someone-drops, and the inevitable "actually, my brother-in-law wants to come too" curveballs. You get to be the person who organized a great trip without being the person who suffered for it.
Some trips are easier to DIY (a long weekend in Vegas). Some are dramatically better with an advisor (a multi-city European cruise tour, a honeymoon, a milestone birthday with the in-laws, a first-ever cruise, a complex Panama Canal trip). We're particular specialists in cruises — Alaska, the Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii, Panama, the British Isles — and we'll tell you honestly if your trip is one where we'll add value or one where you should just book it yourself.
This whole site is a long answer to "why a travel agent?" Every adventure on the journal is a trip we've actually taken. Every photo on the photos page is one we shot. When you book with us, you're not getting a stranger reading off a screen — you're getting two people who've been to the place you want to go, and who are excited to plan yours.
You can absolutely book your trip yourself. Most people who book through us could have. They work with us because the experience is better — better advice, better perks, better support, no more cost. It's the easiest upgrade in travel.
Tell us where you've always wanted to go — or that you have no idea where to start. We'll come back with ideas, perks, and a plan.
